London Marathon 2022
Take on the 2022 virtual TCS London Marathon and raise much needed funds for Breadline Africa
On Sunday 2 October 50,000 participants will take on the traditional course from London’s Blackheath to The Mall – an increase of more than 7,000 on the previous finisher record.
On the same day, an additional 50,000 people will have the chance to take on the world’s greatest marathon on the course of their choice from 00:00:00 to 23:59:59 BST, wherever they are on the planet – building on the success of the virtual London Marathon last year.
Together, these participants will make history by creating a 100,000-person marathon – would you like to be one of them? We have a limited number of charity places available in the virtual 2022 TCS London Marathon
Breadline Africa hopes to raise much needed funds to continue providing safe spaces for children in South Africa to learn and grow.
Why run for #TeamBLA?
Breadline Africa believes that every child deserves a better future and a chance to escape the cycle of poverty through educational opportunities. Breadline Africa has provided more than 660 infrastructure units to under-resourced communities, and plans to bring this total to 1,000 by the end of 2023, benefiting more than 250,000 children.
The renovated containers and prefabricated units replace unsafe structures at early childhood development centres and also provide school libraries to promote literacy, and feeding kitchens at primary schools.
In addition, Breadline Africa supports emergency feeding programmes in poor communities to alleviate hunger. We also have various initiatives for children and their families, including food parcel drives, outings and educational events.
KUHLEKE-INATHI-MBALE EDUCARE NEEDS OUR HELP
Principal, Nosabatha Lukubeni started her educare in her own home with 10 children. The need in her community continues to grow and she now has 30 youngsters, with many more wanting to join. They are quickly outgrowing their current shack structure and a new safe space will allow Nosabatha the opportunity to offer a safe and comfortable environment for the children.
All 30 children and teachers are using one shack for the school, kitchen and one small toilet. It is not hygienic or safe for them to continue in this space. A new, safe classroom and separate kitchen toilet will also bring them closer to being eligible for a government subsidy.
With your donations, we hope to provide Kuhleke-Inathi-Mbale Educare with safe classrooms and hygienic kitchen and toilet facilities. Let’s give these children a safe and nurturing environment to grow and learn in.
