About the project:

Principal, Victoria Maharaj established her pre-school in 2009 in President Park, in the township of Rabie Ridge in Johannesburg, Gauteng. After more than 12 years of serving the community, the pre-school has 103 children enrolled and a waiting list of 30 children.

The challenge:

In terms of legislation relating to early childhood development, the current size of the pre-school’s building means that it is at capacity – they can’t fit any more children into the space! But the need of the community is far greater, and with a long waiting list, she is still receiving requests for enrolment from parents whose children are in need of a solid educational foundation.

Mokokwane Primary School

A dedicated library space will create an environment for these children to easily access books and allow them to further develop their love of reading

Sijongephambili Crèche

A  prefabricated classroom and a kitchen/toilet unit will allow the children of Sijongephambili Crèche to grow and learn in a safe environment

Ekwezi Educare

Refurbishment of the existing classroom will allow the children of Ekwezi Educare to grow and learn in a safe and nurturing environment
