We have a bold plan to provide 30 brick and mortar classroom and toilet structures at 23 pre-schools.

Location: Winnie Madikizela Mandela Local Municipality ( Mbizana ), Eastern Cape

About: The Eastern Cape is one of the most impoverished provinces with little access to
community resources Villages are remote and often cut off from roads and services, connected sometimes only by footpaths Many adults are unemployed and local pre-schools lack the things we take for granted like solid roofs and sanitation.

Challenge: The pre-schools that we work with are often started and run by dedicated but sadly under-resourced local community members. Children are crammed into overcrowded and tumbledown structures. Together with our regional partner, Impande, we plan to build 30 brick and mortar classrooms and toilet units. Each structure can be completed in less than two months and has the potential to completely change the lives of the children who attend these pre-schools.

The need: We have a bold plan to provide 30 brick and mortar classroom and toilet structures at 23 pre-schools. Brick structures will be built instead of placing converted shipping containers as the region is so remote with poor road infrastructure so that large trucks can’t reach many of these isolated spots. With your help, we can offer a brighter future to the children of the Eastern Cape.

Beneficiaries: Over 600 children (0 to 5 years)
