Therese and her team need more classroom space. Their goal is to be able to accommodate 100 children at the centre but they are bursting at the seams

Location: Klipgat, Gauteng

About: As is the case with so many pre-schools that Breadline is privileged to work with, the establishment of Bokamoso Creche and Pre-school came about after founder, Therese, began feeding the children in Klipgat every month, funding her efforts with her meagre pension. Her daughter, Rehab began helping her mother – creating a formidable team.

It was soon apparent that feeding the children was not enough, and it was up to this spirited duo to create a pre-school. They acquired some derelict buildings on a piece of land and slowly began building up a home-from-home for the children within the community and in no time at all, had enrolled 84 children.

Challenge: The pre-school has grown quickly over the four years that it has served the community and Therese and her team need more classroom space as the enrolment waiting list grows. Their goal is to be able to accommodate 100 children at the centre but right now, they are bursting at the seams.

The need: Breadline Africa proposes to provide a 30ᵐ² prefabricated classroom that will make the dream of enrolling another 16 children a reality.

Beneficiaries: 84 children aged between one and five years
