A pre-school is in urgent need of a kitchen to provide its children with a daily meal while at school.

Location: Kya Sands, Randburg, Johannesburg
About: In February 2019, the Stop and Play pre-school was officially born. Pearl opened a fully functioning pre-school made up of converted shipping containers for the young children in her community. The containers provided 32 children with a safe space to grow and learn and Pearl was extremely proud of her new pre-school.
Challenge: During the national lockdown in 2020,  a fire caused by the load-shedding, destroyed the entire pre-school and every structure was damaged. Pearl had to rebuild the school and with assistance has managed to rebuild the classroom and toilet facilities. She has not, however, managed to build a kitchen to provide the children with meals during the school day. Pearl currently cooks outside under some shade cloth which is not possible in bad weather. The school is in need of a dedicated kitchen from which to cook.
The need: A 6m container Kitchen will allow Pearl to provide a nutritious meal for the 32 children in her care.
Beneficiaries: 32 children, aged 1 to 6 years old
