About the project:

In 2012, Christmas Tinto Primary School was established in an impoverished part of Strand, Cape Town. This is a no fee-paying school and is made up entirely of prefabricated units. Learners come from poverty-stricken families and most parents are unemployed and depend on social grants.

The challenge:

Principal, Mr Steven Mphicothi Qantolo and his staff are passionate about reading, they currently have their library in a 12m donated container, which is too small to accommodate all the children. They have a librarian who was trained by the department of Education and is contracted to the school for two years.

The need:

A 45m2 prefabricated library will provide space for the learners. They are desperately in need of a bigger, spacious library for the children to enjoy.
