About the project:

Nosapho Educare Centre was established in 1989 and originally operated from the backyard of a home. The doors opened with just six children, whose parents were employed and needed a safe place for their children to go each day. Its goal is to work with the community to support the need for daily care outside the home, as well as a strong educational foundation.

In 2009, the centre moved to its current premises, consisting of brick classrooms. There are 11 staff members, who offer the children a holistic intervention that includes numeracy, language, life skills and a safe space in which to learn and grow.

The challenge:

Over the years, the centre’s numbers have increased to 120 and there is great need for additional classroom space. Its reputation for a good educational offering and concessions for parents who are struggling financially has spread and there is a waiting list of children wishing to enrol.

The need:

They urgently need another classroom to accommodate more children.
