Sibhek’Okuhle Early Childhood Development Centre

Greylingstad, Mpumalanga

This pre-school needs to replace its unsafe infrastructure in order to get registered

About the project:

Principal Ms Phindile Mthimkhulu is a trained Grade R teacher who wanted to start her own Early Childhood Development (ECD) centre to provide education and a loving, safe space for the children in her community.

The challenge:

In January 2022, the municipality granted the pre-school new land, but they still operate out of a four-room shack with no electricity, pit toilets, and small plastic potties. The pre-school is not registered to receive government subsidies and most parents cannot afford school fees for their children.

The need:

The pre-school requires the following infrastructure in order to meet registration requirements and in order to provide a safe environment for the children that attend.

  • 18m2 sub-divided prefab kitchen & toilet
  • 18m2 prefab office
