About the project:

Siphuhlise Educare and Night Centre was established in 2008, with a converted shipping container that has been placed on a concrete slab and it is currently a haven and place of learning for 45 children. Principal, Gloria Ncediwe Msuthu is supported in her efforts by three partners, namely Sikhula Sonke, The Unlimited Child and Ikamva Labantu.

The challenge:

This current structure is in poor condition, the concrete slabs are cold, the container is old and dilapidated, and is inadequate for the number of children attending regularly. Gloria would like her children to be accommodated in a safer, warm and beautiful environment, and believes that when the children have a decent education space, they will learn better. Her teachers will also be happier and more motivated, which will result in more parents wanting to send their children to Siphuhlise Educare and Night Centre.

She believes that children from her community deserves a good, clean, happy, and stimulating environment.

The need:

Siphuhlise Educare and Night Centre urgently requires a full early childhood development centre to properly meet the centre’s infrastructural needs.
