About the project:

Nomsa Frans established the Educare Centre in her home in January 2019, with six children. More and more children from the surrounding community began enrolling at the pre-school and Nomsa quickly realised she needed more space for her growing pre-school. Nomsa approached the pastor of the local African Methodist Episcopal church to ask if she could use the church facilities and in October 2019, the centre relocated to the church with 20 children and a small team of dedicated educators.

The challenge:

The pre-school continues to grow, and more children are waiting to attend. Nomsa currently has 40 children at the pre-school and is quickly outgrowing the church’s facilities. The pre-school requires a space of its own. Nomsa believes that dedicated infrastructure will help the children to grow and learn in a safe environment.

The need:

A 12m container classroom will allow the children of Thuthuzela Educare Centre to grow and learn in a safe and nurturing environment and a 6m container will provide a much-needed kitchen and three toilet cubicles.
