On 24 August 2023, members of the Breadline Africa team joined the children and teachers of Langa Moravian Crèche to celebrate the launch of their new classroom, which was made possible by Breadline Africa’s generous donors.
Founded in 2000, the pre-school (known since 1952 as Langa Nursery) stands as a cornerstone of education in the community and the demand for its educational programme has led to a long waitlist of eager children.
The principal and staff expressed their gratitude to Breadline Africa’s donors: Longhoughton C of E Primary School, A W Gillespie, B Gogarty, P Marton, University Division Immunology, Co. Wexford Garden and Flower Club, Gerard and Anne Roche, Paul Marsh, Grantglen Limited and Robert Sykes.
Principal, Nobuntu Sidumo expressed her pride in this endeavour, emphasising the significance of the partnership with ELRU, Breadline Africa, the City of Cape Town and others in making this dream a reality. Xoliswa Mangwana, a parent and grandparent from Langa, attested to the positive impact of Langa Moravian Crèche, where her children flourish educationally.
Breadline Africa Infrastructure Manager, Graeme Hyde expressed his pleasure in fulfilling the school’s wish for an additional classroom and praised the teachers for their dedication.
Nelisa Sipamla conveyed gratitude on behalf of Langa Moravian Church, recognising the transformative potential of the new space in nurturing the future of the country. This celebration signifies a brighter chapter for Langa Moravian Crèche, bolstered by the spirit of community and education.
