A partnership that has grown over time
There are partnerships that feel transactional and then there are partnerships that begin to feel like family.
For Breadline Africa, PNA Funky Socks Day has become exactly that.
This year marks five years of being part of the PNA Funky Socks Day campaign as one of the beneficiary organisations alongside Rally to Read and Matla a Bana. Five years of colour, generosity and people showing up for children in small but meaningful ways.
It still feels a little surreal to say out loud. Five years.
What is PNA Funky Socks Day?
PNA Funky Socks Day is a national fundraising campaign in South Africa and Namibia that brings schools, families and workplaces together in support of children in need.
What started as a playful idea centred around colourful socks has grown into a widely supported annual campaign that raises funds through the sale of R10 stickers at PNA stores nationwide and online.
Each year, the campaign shows how something simple can bring people together around a shared purpose: supporting children across Southern Africa.
Why Funky Socks Day matters
At Breadline Africa, we are deeply grateful to once again be part of a campaign that reminds us that doing good does not always have to feel heavy.
Sometimes it looks like structured fundraising and serious impact. Sometimes it looks like bright socks worn with pride and purpose.
Both matter.
The 2026 campaign officially launches on 16 June, which is Youth Day in South Africa. National Funky Socks Day will take place on Friday, 11 September 2026.
The timing feels meaningful. A day dedicated to young people becomes the launchpad for a campaign that supports children who need access to learning tools, safe spaces and early education opportunities.
Where the funds go
Every R10 sticker sold through the PNA Funky Socks Day campaign helps support three organisations working with children across Southern Africa:
- Breadline Africa
- Rally to Read
- Matla a Bana
For Breadline Africa, funds raised through the campaign help deliver educational resource packs to early childhood development centres in under-resourced communities.
Last year, support from Funky Socks Day made it possible to provide 50 resource packs filled with learning materials and stationery. These simple tools help young children learn through play, imagination and discovery.

The impact so far
Last year’s campaign raised R2 million across Southern Africa, supporting literacy, learning resources and care for vulnerable children.
This year, the goal is even bigger, with a target of R2.5 million through sticker sales and donations across South Africa and Namibia.
How to get involved
Getting involved in PNA Funky Socks Day 2026 is simple.
Supporters can buy a R10 sticker at PNA stores nationwide or online. Schools and workplaces can order stickers in bulk. Participants can also show their support on Friday, 11 September by wearing their brightest socks and joining the conversation online.
Because when people choose to show up for children, meaningful change begins to feel possible.
