Empowering learners through literacy at Vhulakhanjhani Primary School
Vhulakhanjhani Primary School, established in 1986, is located in the Malubana village of Nkambako, near Tzaneen in Limpopo, a region renowned for its rich agricultural heritage and scenic beauty. Despite its vibrant surroundings, many learners at the school face considerable barriers to quality education due to limited resources and opportunities.
Through a partnership with the ClemenGold Foundation, Breadline Africa has begun transforming Vhulakhanjhani Primary School into a centre of educational excellence, recently replacing unsafe pit toilets with 35 new sanitary units, which has significantly enhanced learner safety and comfort.
While the school has actively fostered literacy and learning through classroom reading corners, there is an urgent need for a dedicated and adequately equipped library facility. Such a space is essential to nurture a stronger reading culture and facilitate comprehensive learning.
With permission granted by the Limpopo Education Department, Breadline Africa is seeking funding to construct a 45m² library. This library will provide learners with consistent access to diverse reading materials and resources, directly addressing the goals set by the Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education).
