Building brighter futures with a classroom for Zimele Educare Centre
Building brighter futures with a classroom for Zimele Educare Centre
Since 2010, Zimele Educare Centre has provided a nurturing space for 130 children in Makhaza, Khayelitsha. As demand for early education grows, so does the need for better infrastructure.
In 2017, Breadline Africa provided a new classroom, but the centre now urgently needs another to keep Grade R children together, instead of splitting them across two locations, which disrupts their learning.
Despite highly qualified teachers (ECD Level 5), the centre lacks classroom space and sufficient toilets, putting its compliance status and funding for children at risk.
To meet health regulations and ensure a safe, stable learning environment, a compliant classroom are essential. Expanding the centre will allow more children to thrive in a secure, fully equipped space.
To continue serving the children effectively and meeting health and safety regulations, the centre urgently needs a 60m² prefab classroom to keep Grade R learners together in one space.
Vrystaat Primary School has over 200 learners who have to make use of 5 temporary chemical toilets
The school desperately needs decent toilet facilities to replace unsafe pit toilets
